Wahaca Canary Wharf
Recent mural commissioned by Wahaca for the lobby space at Canary Wharf undertaken in August with finishing touches in September. It was a pleasure to invite Greek artist Bilos to design and paint this for us. Thanks also to Matt, Rob and Ella for painting assistance.
Bilos’s design is a composition inspired by Mexican culture and his own art practice. Combining plants, creatures, architectural elements, pottery and patterns. The bird creature gives a sense of flow to whole composition and creates continuity.
Unusually with this project we had the opportunity to work with two different artists for different areas of the site. In the bar a 9 metre Corten steel structure was used as the backdrop for another new mural.
It was a pleasure to work with Felipe Risada from Brazil who created a design for us in his distinctive graphic style. Felipe is a graphic designer, tattoo artist, builder of custom bicycles and street artist - known for his strong line work created with paint rollers.
The designs were painted in situ by local artists - thanks again Matt, Rob and Elle and all involved including of course Felipe & Edu in São Paulo.
